Synopsis (2021:01:25 - last 24 h; Quake Alert level: red The only band that was open at the change of the day was the 40 m band and it was kept open by the activity of the two local quakes with the strength below M2.7. The first one was from Dunsmuir, California at 00:57 UTC, which was followed from Ames, Oklahoma at 01:41 UTC. Just before the first quake the 20 m opened for 45 min, but attenuated after. The 20 m noise transition occurred at 02:15 UTC and it lasted for 90 min and was triggered to low by the M3.2 from Puerto Rico at 03:24 UTC and the M2.53 from Hawaii 12 min later. The precursor of the of two M5.2 and the M2.5 from Ninilchik, Alaska at 05:49 UTC dropped the 30 m noise floor at 06:00 UTC. After 06:30 UTC the 80 m noise level drops in response to the double quake as well as a short 45 min 40 m opening that drops out after 07:15 UTC. The first one of the M5.2 quakes released at 07:25 UTC, was followed by a M2.45 from Hawaii 26 min after and the second M5.2 came from New Guinea 2 min after. All bands were out. Only the 40 m band was open after the solar wind shockwave that can be seen after 07:00 UTC on 30 m as a noise level rise that lasted for most of the day. Interesting is the fact that these type of shocks usually are also visible on 15 m and 10 m, which did not occur. After 08:00 UTC only the 40 m band returns with the M2.47 from Niland, California striking at 08:16UTC, and extended conditions past the M4.3 from Jan Mayen 1 min later as more minor events from Hawaii released. The M4.9 from Japan striking at 09:05 UTC and more minor quakes from Alaska and Puerto Rico extend the current propagation. 80 m comes back after the double event of the M4.5 from New Guinea at 11:34 UTC and the M4.4 from Taiwan 5 min after. After 21 min, at exactly 12:00 UTC the M4.4 from Tonga struck and extended the opening to 13:00 UTC. That is when 80 m attenuates as the precursor of 6 significant quakes that stated to erupt after 13:35 UTC (for details see list). All lower bands sees a noise spike at 14:15 UTC that was caused M4.5 from Japan and 80 m recovers after as well, but attenuated slightly with the precursor of another minor M2.5 from Kobuk, Alaska at 15:15 UTC and attenuated after 16:00 UTC. 40 m dropped out after 17:00 UTC with the precursor of a double event starting with the M4.9 from Rat Islands at 17:22 UTC and the M2.58 from East Prairie, Missouri 6 min after. 20 m that came back after 17:00 UTC fades out with the event of this quake and came back after 17:30 UTC. 20 m attenuated again after 19:00 UTC and a brief 15 m opening occurred as the double event of a M4.8 from Solomon Islands at 19:31 UTC and the M4.4 from the Philippines take over the ionosphere after 19:30 UTC. The bands attenuated and went sporadic with the two M5.1, one M5.0 a M4.9 and a M4.8 releasing all before 22:02 UTC. All bands above 20 m were open very sporadically after, for the rest of the day. The total energy that was released was 10922.17 GJ, or 126.41 MW over a 24 h time period. Next scheduled update at 2021:01:26 00:00 UTC
